Product Review - Urban Decay: All Nighter Liquid Foundation

Price & Purchase Process & Packaging

Urban Decay's All Nighter Foundation purchased directly from Sephora cost $40, which is a decent price for a high-end foundation. It comes in 23 shades, addressing different undertones and skin colors. It is a full 1 oz. and comes in a stainless steel-ish decorative container indicative of Urban Decay's overall style. The foundation is dispensed through a pump (YES!), which this reviewer appreciates. How the hell wants a foundation without a pump? Talk about inconvenient, retro, and obsolete.
Pigmentation & Color Payoff & Performance

The foundation is a thicker consistency and according to the Sephora website claims the following, "All Nighter Liquid Foundation by Urban Decay provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. Get all-night wear and a blown-out effect you never thought was possible for a flawless-looking complexion that looks amazing and stays that way. Perfect for all-night affairs, this innovative formula is also comfortable enough to wear every day." I would agree that the foundation offers a very full coverage with a matte coverage (I don't know what the hell a "modern matte finish" is). I particular enjoy the coverage and only have to apply one layer to achieve full coverage. What I experienced with this foundation, in addition to MANY others, is that this foundation oxidizes badly. Like super oxidizes!!! On some people it turns an orangish color, but on my skin it just becomes a deeper brown. So, what I decided to do was save the current foundation for my summer collection and purchase a winter/spring shade. I own shades 6.0 & 7.5. Some experience cakeyness, but that is not my experience. I generally have combination/leaning oily, depending on the season and I love the matte finish. It makes a difference whether you apply the foundation with a brush or some type of beauty sponge to sheer it out a bit. It also helps to definitely set the foundation with a powder. It terms of finish and coverage, it's right up there with Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.

Overall Product Presentation

On the Sephora website, this product is rated 3 & 1/4 stars. Most of the complaints were of oxidation and a heavy cakey feeling. I guess I understand that. Who wants to put on a foundation and it turn a different color? I totally get it. As far as I am concerned, I am the type of person that if I can make it work, then I will. I love the coverage and the finish and although the oxidation is annoying, I made it work for me. Aside from the oxidation, the is one of my top 5 foundations.

✰✮✮✮✮ 4/5
(Minus one star for the oxidation)
