Reviewing the Following Week's Products

Week 17

Blinc Electric Eyeshadow Palette
REVIEW:  One of the best eyeshadow palette collaboration Boxycharm has done since incorporating eyeshadow palette into their subscription boxes. Fantastic foil shades, that although quite common, are beautiful and look amazing on any skin tone and eye color.

RATE: 8/10 Quality shadows, buttery consistency, and easy to apply.

ROTATE: Keeping this one in my collection for a bit longer!
MAC The Simpsons Palette
REVIEW: Did not use this palette during this rotation period. Cannot accurately provide a comprehensive review. Look for an upcoming review in a different Review, Rate, & Rotate.

Mary Lou Minizer &  Artist Coutre
Makeup Revolution Blush & Colourpop Blush in Quarters

REVIEW: (a) I get why everyone likes this highlighter, but it is not particularly useful for me and my skin tone. It's a bit too yellow/champagne. I can wear it but it's not the best highlighter for me. (b) The Artist Coutre highlighter is absolutely beautiful but extremely messy and glittery. It would be more practical if this loose powder was in the form of a pressed powder. (c) This Colourpop blush is very pretty on my skin and it is easy to apply and definitely multi-seasonal. (d) Makeup Revolution makes great products at very affordable prices, including their blushes. At $5 a pop, you really can't go wrong, although the color range at the time I purchased this blush was limited.

RATE: (a) 6.75/10 Decent product, cute package, just not the color for me. (b) 6.75/10 Beautiful color, too messy, and difficult to apply. Great packaging. (c) 7/10 Great blush, beautiful color that can be worn year round but unfortunately it's made similar to Colourpop's Super Shock Shadows and can dry out quickly. (d) 8/10 Great blush, awesome price, tons of product, great for people of color.

ROTATE: (a & b) These items are going to be on probation to see if there is any way I can make them work. (c & d) Items that I am keeping!

Week  18

Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette
REVIEW: When I was beginning my career in beauty blogging, I wasn't hip to the awesomeness of Kat Von D. Since becoming aware of the beauty and deepness of her products, there hasn't been a Kat Von D eyeshadow palette that I haven't purchased. Comparatively, Kat Von D's previous Holiday eyeshadow palettes have gained more hype, more success, and better reviews from bloggers like myself. I truly enjoy the concept of the palette, from the aesthetics to the quality of the shadows. This palette is definitely a favorite of mine.

RATE: 10/10 Based on the criteria listed above, this palette is absolutely a 10/10. Many reviewers didn't care for this palette, but I happen to disagree completely. It has a magnificent color story, wonderful pigmentation, and the packaging is outstanding.

ROTATE: Nope, not ever! Keeping this one!

Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette

REVIEW: I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of all matte palettes, but for the most part this is a decent palette. Although some of the shadows lack true shade variation and the shades require a bit of effort to build up (which isn't always a bad thing, but some are not patient enough to appreciate less pigmented shadows).

RATE: 6.5 - 7.25/10 The score on this palette varies because of the concept of less pigmentation and its advantages versus very pigmented shades and the necessity for a product to perform as expected

ROTATE: I think I will keep this around for another rotation.

Crown Cosmetics Glam Metals Eyeshadow Palette

REVIEW: There were a lot of people displeased with this addition to a recent Boxycharm box, however, I was not one of them. I actually have been using this palette quite a bit and created some beautiful looks with it. Totally pleased! Excellent packaging!

RATE: 8/10 Great packaging with the guitar accent. Used this palette inconjunction with the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basic palette and was quite pleased with the looks I came up with.

ROTATE: Keeping this one around for a while!

Okalan Fancy Eyeshadow Palette  - The Bronze Palette

REVIEW: I got this palette from ShopHush.com and unlike the matching Burgundy palette I also purchased, this one is not a favorite of mine. The shadows are very powdery and the shimmers just don't have any "shimmer" to them. Really disappointed with this palette, but I only spent $10 on it, so ce la vie.

RATE: 3.5/10 Not much to say here. Just not pleased with this palette.

ROTATE: Probably will be giving this one away!
